Toxicology Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does Accu-Chem file insurance?

No. Accu-Chem accepts two types of payments: Cashiers check, money order or charge (MasterCard, Visa, American Express). Receipts are provided to the patient so that they may file on their own insurance.

Q: Are these tests covered by Medicare?

In most cases, Medicare will cover these tests. Please call customer service for the proper paperwork.

Q: Can I order my own tests?

No. Your physician must order the tests. If your physician is not familiar with Accu-Chem Laboratories®, he or she may call in and speak with our client service personnel or on staff toxicologists. An information packet will be mailed out upon physician request, and the test kits may be ordered at that time also.

Q: Can I ship on Fridays?

No. Shipments are accepted Monday through Friday. No shipments are accepted on the weekends or holidays. Ship accordingly. Accu-Chem Laboratories uses FEDEX standard overnight delivery. If specimens are drawn on Fridays, you may refrigerate the blood or tissue, and freeze the urine for the next week's delivery to Accu-Chem.

Q: I was exposed to a chemical but I'm not sure what it is. Can you test for it?

Perhaps. Attempt to locate the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) on the chemical(s) you may have been exposed to. They should be available upon request. You may then contact your physician for instructions. Your physician may call Accu-Chem if he/she has any further questions.

Q: I am interested in getting your testing, but my doctor won't order the tests.

That's okay. Accu-Chem can provide you with a list of doctors who have used our services that are located in the area of your choice.

Q: I want to get your testing, but my doctor is not familiar with your services.

That's okay. Your doctor may call in and request laboratory information that can be sent by mail or fax. Your doctor may also speak with one of Accu-Chem's toxicologists.

Q: I have a patient in our office that wants your tests, but we don't have any of your kits. Can we use our own supplies?

Call Accu-Chem toxicology client services first. We prefer that you order the kits directly from us. Q: Do you test hair and saliva samples?

No. Accu-Chem provides testing of blood, serum, adipose tissue and urine.
